The Posterior Labral Tear Test is a common orthopedic test to assess for posteroinferior hip impingement, posterior labral tear,s and anterior hip instability. No diagnostic studies have evaluated this test regarding its reliability or validity. For this reason, the clinical value of this test is unknown.
Execution:
1. Patient is in supine position with a neutral spine
2. The examiner brings the patient’s hip into maximal flexion, adduction and internal rotation
3. Then, the patient’s hip is slowly moved into abduction, external rotation, and extension
Positive Outcome: Reproduction of the patient’s familiar groin pain with or without a click
