McCarthy Test | Femoroacetabular Impingement (FAI) Assessment<\/h2>\n
\n\nA lot of physical tests such as the FADDIR or scour test have been described for the diagnosis of hip labrum pathology. The McCarthy test is mentioned in several papers on the clinical diagnosis of labrum tears but has never been subject to formal diagnostic accuracy studies which is why the clinical value remains questionable.\n
\n\n[embed]https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=To4r0YQI6Nc[\/embed]\n\n<\/div>\n\u200b\u200bTo conduct the test, the patient is in supine lying position and both legs are maximally flexed by the examiner.\nThen the patient is asked to hold on to the non-tests leg and to keep it in full flexion.\nYou are going to extend the leg to be assessed first with added external rotation and then again with internal rotation.\n\nThen the procedure is repeated on the asymptomatic side.
