Indicators\u00a0of such injury may be a pop sensation that\u00a0the patient felt when getting injured as well\u00a0as medial elbow pain. <a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/15701609\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">O'Driscoll et al. (2005)<\/a> evaluated 21 patients\u00a0with suspected MCL injury and referenced the\u00a0\u00a0outcomes of the moving valgus stress test with\u00a0arthroscopy findings. They report a sensitivity\u00a0of 100% and a specificity of 75%.\n<div class=\"embed-container\">\n\n[embed]https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=JIU_kv5VoQk[\/embed]\n\n<\/div>\nTo conduct\u00a0the test have your patient standing or in\u00a0\u00a0an upright sitting position. Then, abduct the\u00a0shoulder to 90\u00b0 and maximally flex\u00a0the elbow. Apply a valgus torque to the elbow\u00a0bringing the shoulder into maximal external\u00a0rotation.Whilst maintaining the valgus torque,\u00a0quickly extend the elbow to around 30\u00b0.\n\nThe test is considered positive if the following\u00a0criteria apply: a) known sudden medial elbow pain\u00a0is reproduced and b) the pain should be maximal\u00a0in an arc in the ranges of 120\u00b0 and 70\u00b0\n\nWith a positive test the same symptomatic\u00a0arc referred to as shear angle can be observed to\u00a0a lesser extent when performing the test in the\u00a0opposite direction from extension to flexion.\n\nOther orthopedic tests to evaluate the integrity of the medial collateral ligament of the elbow are the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.physiotutors.com\/wiki\/elbow-valgus-instability-stress-test\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Modified Milking Test<\/a>\u00a0and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.physiotutors.com\/wiki\/elbow-valgus-instability-stress-test\/\">Valgus Instability Stress Test<\/a>.\n\n&nbsp;\n\n[cta]\n<h6><\/h3>\n"}},{"acf_fc_layout":"content-content","section_options":{"vertical_alignment":"top","column_right_box":false,"column_left_width":"col-12 col-lg-4 offset"},"column_left":{"content_editor":"<h4>References<\/h4>"},"column_right":{"content_editor":"<a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/15701609\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">O'Driscoll, S.
