No diagnostic accuracy studies have investigated these assessments so the clinical value remains unknown.\u00a0<\/span>\n<div class=\"embed-container\">\n\n[embed]https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=e6X8vMYTSHs[\/embed]\n\n<\/div>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With the patient's mouth open, inspect the tongue for atrophy which may become apparent due to wrinkling and loss of bulk at the tip of the tongue and its borders.<\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ask the patient to stick out their tongue and check for deviations.
