The Achilles-tendon is the thickest and strongest tendon in the human body. The worst case scenario is to suffer a rupture of the tendon (besides getting shot by an arrow wink emoticon ).
I am currently working on a ‘patient-therapist guideline’ for the practice I am doing my internship at and I came across this recent review on the different approaches in the rehabilitation of Achilles tendon rupture.
It claims that one can decrease the rehabilitation process by several weeks with the accelerated rehabilitation that includes immediate full weight-bearing without a higher risk of a re-rupture.
What do you think? Would you consider the accelerated protocol?
